Fort Collins Colorado

We are staying at the University Inn.

Money Magazine has voted Fort Collins the best place to live on the USA so we are keen to see why!

There are bicycles everywhere.

...even in the shops. Fort Collins operates a 'bike library' and you can borrow a bike just like a book!

First stop is the lovely quilt shop 'Mama Said Sew', just north of Downtown. We had to ask for directions in a Gun shop. That was exciting. Two helpful guys looked it up on their computers and sent us in the right direction.

It was a lovely airy shop with lots of modern ideas.

Here is one we will copy....

This new collection by Momo for Moda was too tempting. We left with a pack of fat eighths each.

Next stop is a really friendly bookshop. Independent bookshops in the USA are always very interesting.

This bookshop had a tea shop attached. It had a 'Wall of tea'.

They made Earl Grey tea by steaming the tea in milk first. It was different but very nice.

The streets are wide and there is plenty of room for everyone.

At every corner there are beautiful flowers.

The buildings have been recently renovated.

There is no litter or graffiti.

And there is plenty of street art......

.... And places to watch the world go by.

The central square is spacious.

Chris thought it reminded her of Disneyland .... then we looked up! Apparently Walt Disney stayed here and was inspired.

Restoration has been meticulous.

Fort Collins is a centre for Arts and Crafts and this is evident everywhere.

More street art.

We decided to eat here....

..... this was chosen....

..... and it looked this this and tasted delicious. Another idea to be copied.

A photo for horse lovers.

Fort Collins is getting ready for a big music festival and there are pianos in the streets for anyone to play.

We met Deb busy painting another one with a bicycle theme.

She was given two weeks to complete it.

Apparently there was a big competition and many designs were submitted by local artists.

After wandering round Fort Collins for several hours it was easy to see why it is such a popular place to live. We even checked out the local house prices just in case we win the lottery!

Well, we certainly had a very happy day here.....
