After a hearty breakfast during which we finally mastered the waffle machine.....
......we set off in the direction of Estes Park.
A fun part of our trip has been shopping for friends who have requested items from over here. We have been shopping for quilters, family and colleagues and mostly the requests have been straightforward and easy to find. Today's mission, however, is worthy of the Apprentice as we are looking for a bee suit for Henri. As you can imagine we have spent quite a bit of time googling ......
First stop was a super shop called Jax in which we could have done serious damage to our credit cards if we had had the time, mental note to return here one day!
They sent us just up the road.......
.....where we found this! Unfortunately it is the wrong size but we are getting close at least.
It was a cute little shop with lots of bee related merchandise, including this snazzy jacket. Please notice Chris' new skirt!
The bee suit trail has gone cold so we slide into JoAnn's to look for fleece for Diane.
Fleece as far as the eye could see. $2.99 a yard. Believe me this is a bargain.
We are also looking for dies for Caroline. These are the wrong ones :-(
A nice lady in JoAnn recommends a local quilt shop.....
.......where the owner's husband tells us all about the history of feed sacks and patchwork.
We liked this Christmas quilt with 3d flying geese. That is not a tying error!
Lunch at Barnes and Noble.....
........ before we drive the last few miles to Estes Park. We check in to Murphy's Lodge and we are delighted to find that our room has a deck right by the stream.
It also has a washing machine next door. Hurrah!
The stream travels right into town, which is just a few hundred yards from where we are staying.
The Village Band are playing in a riverside auditorium.
Estes Park is lovely, nestled just below the snow capped mountains of Rocky Mountain National Park.
But we don't have time for scenery this evening, we need to catch up on sleep - we have a quilt show to go to tomorrow!
After 2 successful goes with the waffle machines we quit while we were ahead - it was rather amusing watching others scrape theirs off in lots of little pieces! Enjoy the nice weather - it hasn't got above 18 degrees since we got back! :-)
